Seimone Augustus: ‘Thank You Dad’
When Seimone Augustus was in fifth grade, she was able to dunk – without hesitation – on the 8-foot hoops her basketball league used. She quickly outgrew her competition. To seize her talent, Seimone’s dad, Seymore, took on another name – personal trainer. Seymore would create personalized drills for Seimone. Seimone regularly was instructed to dribble blindfolded or have one hand tied to her waist in order to perfect a shot with both hands. And – it worked.
Seimone Augustus became the first female athlete at LSU to have a jersey retired, lucky number 33. Now, a shooting guard for the Minnesota Lynx, Augustus was just named a WNBA all-star for the 8th time.
