Clint Dempsey: A Forever Tribute
Every time Clint Dempsey – a now household name; the Captain America of soccer – scores a goal he raises two fingers to the air. An ode to his sister who passed away, a tribute to why he plays.
Dempsey’s story is the American Dream. Stamped with all shades of red, white and blue. Including the suffering that embarks with a rigid road to success.
Dempsey grew up in a trailer park in Nacogdoches, Texas. His parents didn’t have enough money for both him and his sister, Jennifer, to pursue their love for the game. His soccer, her tennis. So, the funds went to Jennifer, four years older and a rising legend, until she passed away at the young age of 16 due to a brain aneurysm.
Devastation flooded the Dempsey household, sparking a fire underneath Clint to fulfill his sister’s dream – becoming a pro-athlete. And Clint Dempsey did just that.
